Porterville Newborn Photography | Redheads

You’ve probably heard the claims that redheads are going extinct. According to this article https://science.howstuffworks.com/life/genetic/redhead-extinction.htm it’s not true. I really hope they’re right because look how adorable this little guy is. It’s true, redheads are rare (we photograph more twins than gingers) but that’s what makes them so distinct and intriguing. I hope they stick around for a long, long time.

Another misconception about redheads is that they have fiery personalities. In one of my favorite books, Anne of Green Gables, it says “You’d find it easier to be bad than good if you had read hair.” That can’t be true because this little guy was nothing but sweet and agreeable.

Porterville Newborn Photographer | Disney Themed Newborn Session

We don’t really do “themed” sessions very often because I try to keep my style very simple and classic. But when this couple mentioned that Disney is a way of life for them and Ratatouille was dad’s favorite movie we were intrigued by the challenge. Could we do a Disney themed newborn session and keep it simple and classic? Could we keep the color palette soft and neutral?

I think we did it! We kept the Mickeys subtle and the colors pastel. Ratatouille clearly was more obvious but still simple and, hopefully, classic. Let me know what you think in the comments below. Did we pull off a simple, classic Disney themed newborn session?

Porterville Baby Photographer | My Job Rocks!

Recently someone posted a comment on one of my Instagram photos that said, “You have the best job.” It’s true, my job rocks!

Each baby is a miracle and a blessing. Each baby is a life-changing experience for the family that’s welcoming him or her. And I get to be there, I get to play a small part in this life-changing experience. I get to photograph the miracle that made you parents, or made you parents again. I get to capture this quickly changing new life in his or her first few days of life. I get to see them when their umbilical cord is still attached, when their skin is flaky from soaking in a bath of amniotic fluid for months, when their eyes can’t focus just yet. Brand new, fresh, miraculous life. And somehow I get paid to do it.

Trust me when I say that I don’t take this great privilege for granted. I’m honored to document your family’s story and create an heirloom that you will treasure for a lifetime. It is my pleasure because my job rocks!
